Task Force on Treatment-Based Drug Courts

The statewide Task Force on Treatment-Based Drug Courts was created by Administrative Order, AOSC 02-24 on 8/23/02 by Chief Justice Anstead, Supreme Court of Florida.  FADCP annually reports to the Task Force and works closely with them otherwise.  A summary of the functions of this Task Force, as posted on the Supreme Court's website, includes:
  1. Assist representatives of the executive and legislative branches in their efforts to develop a comprehensive, coordinated state policy to address the destructive impact of substance abuse on individuals, families, communities, the state, and the nation.
  2. In consultation with the Steering Committee on Families and Children in the Court, develop recommended statewide standards for the judicial administration of juvenile drug court cases and dependency drug court cases.
  3. Identify obstacles to participation in Florida’s drug court programs by racial and ethnic minorities, and recommend strategies to overcome those barriers.
  4. Provide guidance on revising the nationally recognized Florida publication: Treatment-based Drug Court Program--A Guide.
  5. Identify confidentiality and ethical issues related to the operation of drug court programs and develop strategies to address areas of concern.
  6. Assist the Florida Association of Drug Court Professionals in determining training needs for professionals involved with the treatment-based drug court concept.
  7. Analyze other issues which may impact the treatment-based drug court concept, as directed by the chief justice.
